Spruce Pine Foundation Announces First Round of Donations
Spruce Pine, NC – May 2025
The Sibelco Spruce Pine Foundation has announced its first round of community donations, providing over $50,000 in funding to strengthen the local economy, support housing recovery, and improve the well-being of families across Mitchell County.
The donations are part of the Foundation’s mission to drive long-term resilience and sustainable growth in the region by supporting small businesses, community initiatives, and social programs.
This first round of donations includes:
DT’s Coffee – $20,000 to help reopen a much-loved small business in downtown Spruce Pine, supporting local entrepreneurship and revitalization of the town center.
Rebuilding Hollers – $20,000 to provide building materials for the repair of 51 homes, helping families restore safe and secure living spaces.
Mitchell County Long Term Resilience Group – $11,200 to provide temporary housing support for families displaced while rebuilding their homes.
“These initial donations reflect our deep commitment to economic growth, community resilience, and strengthening families across Mitchell County,” said Foundation President, Brittni Nereim. “By working hand-in-hand with local organizations, we aim to build a stronger, more connected future for the entire community.”
The Foundation was launched in 2024 with an initial $1 million contribution from Sibelco and is focused on four key priorities: supporting economic growth and diversification, strengthening community organizations and social initiatives, improving infrastructure and connectivity, and preserving the Blue Ridge Mountain ecosystem.
Additional rounds of community donations are planned throughout 2026, with a continued focus on supporting projects that create lasting impact in Mitchell County and beyond.
