The Sibelco Spruce Pine Foundation Fund operates as a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) held at the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, “CFWNC”. The Sibelco Spruce Pine Foundation Fund Advisory Committee provides funding recommendations aligned with our four focus areas, while CFWNC provides fiduciary oversight, compliance, and grant administration to ensure transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of funds.

Sandrine Besnard-Corblet
Chief Legal Officer
Sandrine Besnard-Corblet joined Sibelco in 2021 as Chief Legal Officer and is a member of the Executive Committee. She started her career in private practice at the French law firm Gide, Loyrette & Nouel and decided, after a few years, to move to an in-house position to be part of the business decision-making process. She has held various attorney positions at Levi Strauss & Co., from European and Global Intellectual Property Counsel to Emerging Markets Associate GC, and finally EMEA General Counsel as of 2004.

Steve North
Family Physician
Dr. Steve North is a rural family physician specializing in addiction and adolescent medicine at Mountain Community Health Partnership in Bakersville, NC. From 2019 to 2024, he was Vice President of Medical Strategy for Eleanor Health, an outpatient substance use disorder program focused on harm reduction and virtual care. He founded and directs Health-e-Schools, a telemedicine program that has grown from three schools in 2011 to serving over 72,000 students across 130 schools in North Carolina. His work in telemedicine earned the American Telemedicine Association’s President’s Award for Health, Quality, and Innovation in 2014.
Dr. North previously served as Medical Director for Mission Virtual Care, integrating virtual health services into Mission Health, North Carolina’s sixth-largest health system. A leader in telehealth research, he has contributed to national guidelines and serves on the boards of Advocates for Youth, Impact Health, and The Toe River Health District. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his medical doctorate from the University of North Carolina, completing his Family Medicine Residency, Adolescent Medicine Fellowship, and MPH at the University of Rochester.

Carrie Reeder
Community Relations & CSR Leader
Carrie Reeder is a seasoned community relations consultant and an active leader in corporate social responsibility (CSR). With over 15 years of experience, she has developed and led CSR and stakeholder engagement strategies that drive measurable impact in communities across the U.S. and internationally. Her expertise lies in fostering meaningful partnerships between corporations and communities, ensuring sustainable and positive change.
Most recently, Carrie served as Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Affairs at Albemarle Corporation, where she led the company’s global community engagement strategy and helped shape its corporate identity within the communities it serves. In this role, she also served as President of the Albemarle Foundation, overseeing philanthropic initiatives. Prior to Albemarle, she led environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives at U.S. Bank and directed global corporate social responsibility at Collins Aerospace. She also spent nearly a decade at PwC, managing marketing, communications, and community engagement across the Southeast region.
Carrie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. She is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she lives with her husband and daughter.

Wayne Peight
Small Business Owner & Real Estate Investor
Wayne is a seasoned small business owner and international real estate investor with a dynamic professional background in entrepreneurial ventures and investment consulting. He currently serves as General Manager of The Eagle Consulting and Holding Company, LLC, and has previously led multiple ventures including Eagle Commercial Roofing and Western Carolina Solar. His career has spanned key roles in marketing, technical advising, and education within the construction and solar industries.
Fluent in both English and conversational Spanish, Wayne brings a global perspective to his work through past immersion studies in Antigua, Guatemala, and active participation in international philanthropy. He has volunteered with youth mentorship and facility construction at Hogar Luz, Vida y Amor, an orphanage in Latin America.
Locally, Wayne is a member of the Spruce Pine Town Council and a strong advocate for nonprofit initiatives and entrepreneurial education. His cross-sector experience, from hands-on trades to investment strategy, allows him to bridge community development with global insight. -

Michael M. Adler
Former U.S. Ambassador, Business Leader & Philanthropist
Michael M. Adler is the immediate past United States Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium where he served with distinction during the Biden Administration. Michael was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Adler Group, Inc., one of South Florida’s largest real estate companies where he played a significant role in the growth and development of South Florida as a major center for international trade.
Adler Group, Inc., formed in 1978, offers services in real estate development, construction, brokerage and leasing and property management. Michael had significant mixed use multifamily development projects and commercial real estate holdings throughout the Southeastern United States. He is a civic and community leader and has held key leadership roles in many charities and non-profit organizations. Adler served as Chairman of Mount Sinai Medical Center where he sat on the Board of Trustees, President of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation where he was able to serve as a representative at the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations and was former Vice Chairman of Florida International University’s Board of Trustees. Michael is a long-standing resident of Miami and has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Miami.

Julie Harris
Vice President, Legal Americas at Sibelco
Julie A. Harris is an accomplished legal executive with over 25 years of experience in global corporate legal affairs, board governance, and strategic leadership across both profit and non-profit sectors. As of January 2026, she serves as Vice President, Legal – Americas at Sibelco, where she leads legal strategy and operations across the region, supporting business growth, compliance, and risk management.
Prior to joining Sibelco, Julie held senior legal roles at Novelis and The Lubrizol Corporation, where she led legal teams supporting multi-billion-dollar capital projects, drove ESG and compliance initiatives, and oversaw litigation, intellectual property, and strategic transactions. She is known for her collaborative leadership style, sharp analytical skills, and commitment to integrity and creative problem-solving.
Julie holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. in Political Economy from Bowling Green State University. She is licensed to practice law in Ohio and has served on multiple corporate and nonprofit boards, including the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center and Positive Education Program.

Rick Singleton
President
Rick Singleton is the Director of Mining and Mineral Processing for Sibelco North America and provides local oversight and leadership support for the Sibelco Spruce Pine Foundation. In this role, Rick helps ensure alignment between Sibelco’s operations and its long‑standing commitment to the Spruce Pine community.
Rick joined Sibelco in 2018 as a Plant Manager and was appointed Director of Operations in October 2022. He brings more than 30 years of experience in operations and plant leadership and has held a variety of leadership roles focused on operational excellence, safety, and workforce development. Throughout his career, Rick has been recognized for his steady leadership, deep operational knowledge, and commitment to the people and communities where he works. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Operations Management and Supervision from Appalachian State University.
A highly respected and long‑time member of the local community, Rick is passionate about supporting programs and partnerships that make a meaningful, lasting impact in Spruce Pine and the surrounding region.

Francisco San Martin
Treasurer & Secretary
Francisco San Martin joined Sibelco in March 2023 as VP Transformation NAM, and subsequently as VP Finance Americas. He holds Civil and Industrial Engineering degrees from the Universidad De Chile, and an MBA from Northwestern University. He resides with his family in Charlotte, NC.

Connie Taylor
Foundation Support
Connie Taylor serves as Administrator of Production for Sibelco and provides local support for the Sibelco Spruce Pine Foundation.
Connie has been with Sibelco for almost 8 years and is known for her dedication, reliability, and strong connection to the local community. She brings a genuine passion for supporting programs that benefit families and strengthen the Spruce Pine area. Connie lives in Spruce Pine and grew up in the heart of Mitchell County in the Ledger community. She is proud to contribute to the community she calls home.
